David Alpay

David Alpay is a Canadian actor, musician and producer, best known for playing Mark Smeaton in The Tudors and Professor Atticus Shane in the TV drama The Vampire Diaries.

Alpay was born in Toronto, Ontario. had planned to pursue a career in neuroscience when he was studying at Earl Haig Secondary School in North York, Ontario. He even went so far as to win the University of Maryland, Baltimores Brain Bee in grade 12. Alpay was also a member of the schools winning dragon boat race team and at one time the principal violinist for the Canadian Dance Tapestry. Prior to his first film role, he was studying at the University of Toronto, and he returned there to pursue a Masters in the History of Medicine.
